Saying Goodbye: Is it Time for a New Mattress?

According to Chris Brown, “There’s never a right time to say goodbye.” While this may apply in love, it definitely doesn’t apply when it comes to a person’s mattress. There is a right time to say goodbye and some of the signs that let a person know this time has arrived are found here.

It Looks Funny

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” That’s accurate – it’s not possible to tell what’s inside. However, when it comes to a mattress, this advice just doesn’t apply. If a mattress doesn’t look right anymore, then chances are, it’s definitely time to say goodbye. Try looking for some visual signs of a problem, such as sagging or uneven areas. This means the mattress is no longer supportive (and who needs unsupportive sleep aids, right?). If this issue occurs, it’s definitely time to start shopping for a new mattress.

It’s Loud

Do the creaks and cracks of a mattress wake up everyone when turning over at night? If a person begins to hear what sounds like grinding metal, or if they feel displaced springs, it means the mattress’s foundation is no longer strong or supportive. It is another telltale sign it’s time to invest in a replacement.

It Smells

Did someone forget to flush? Did they not take the garbage out? What is that bad odor? Most people are pretty shocked to find out it’s their mattress. However, when they stop and think about it for a minute, it makes sense – how many hours a day does one or more people spend in bed? It only makes sense that a mattress would collect quite a bit of fungus and bacteria over time. If a room is damp, the situation is only escalated further. If the mattress smells, it’s time to invest in a new one.

When it comes to replacing a mattress, there are more than a few factors to keep in mind. Be sure to check my site for more signs it’s time to say, “out with the old, in with the new.” Being informed and aware of the problem is the first step to overcoming it.
